New Skyscraper planned for Bangkok
A leading Thai property developer recently announced plans to construct a record breaking new skyscraper in the capital Bangkok. The building, scheduled for completion in 2019, is set to become one of the top 10 tallest buildings in the world. Super Tower', as it's currently named, will comprise 125 storeys, measuring an impressive total height of 615 metres. The mixed-up development will feature a luxurious hotel, offices and an observation deck for visitors who want to take in sensational panoramic views of the city. The estimated cost of the project is THB100 billion (US$3.1 billion). Upon revealing its plans, the developer expressed confidence in the Thai economy; expressing hope that the new building will become one of Bangkok's busiest business, shopping and residential hubs. According to the Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat, which monitor a list of the tallest buildings in the world, Bangkok's Super Tower' will claim the title as the world's ninth tallest building if plans go ahead as scheduled. However, if construction was completed today, Super Tower' would actually claim second place in the building race to the skies, just behind Dubai's Burj Khalifa, which measures a staggering 828 metres tall. Thailand's impressive buildings are not limited to skyscrapers in the capital city alone. Other locations such as Phuket and Koh Samui now boasts a wealth of stunning properties, including some of the most impressive private luxury villas in Asia.
