Thailand has been ranked fifth top destination in the world for couples seeking out romantic honeymoon destinations on Google, reported Fodor's Travel, a leading travel website in the US.
An article entitled, The World's Best Honeymoon Destinations for 2014" stated that, Thailand is perfect for couples who want to enjoy a mix of activities, from city excursions and nightlife, to mountain trekking, beach-combing and shopping in modern malls as well as outdoor food and flower markets."
In the Google rankings, in terms of the number of searches Thailand came in at fifth place, after New Zealand, Cancun, The Maldives and Bali. The Kingdom ranked above than other well known romantic destination searches that included Belize, St. Lucia, Tahiti, the Caribbean and Croatia.
The Tourism Authority of Thailand's (TAT) branch in New York welcomed the positive news calling it great news for the Thai tourism industry.
It clearly shows that TAT's ongoing efforts to raise awareness of what the kingdom can offer, via marketing, promotions and an interactive online presence has built awareness of Thailand as a romantic destination," said Thawatchai Arunyik, Governor of the TAT. And this on a website that processed nearly six billion searches a day in 2013," he added.
One of the Kingdom's main attractions for honeymooners is the luxurious, personalised experience on offer. Over the past two decades, a number of world class resorts and hotels have established themselves in Thailand, in addition to an impressive selection of private holiday villas.
Islands like Phuket and Koh Samui are becoming increasingly popular as top honeymoon destinations, and a growing number of couples are choosing to host their wedding celebrations in one of the island's private villas. These properties allow for absolute privacy and comfort, and many of them embody an elegant, Thai inspired style.
Island villas in Thailand also boast private swimming pools, Jacuzzis and ocean views, making them ideal for couples that want to enjoy a romantic honeymoon atmosphere.
Couples that want to splurge on a few extra activities can arrange with their villa manager for a professional chef to cater a candlelit dinner within the comfort of the villa, or for a spa therapist to come to the villa so they can indulge in some couples' treatments.
